Engineered Oak Flooring Basics
Oak flooring is usually formed by treating an oak tree into thick slices. These thick boards are sometimes kiln dried or left to season for several months or years. These boards are again cut into narrower boards and then polished, sliced and ribbed to create complete firm oak floorboards.
Engineered oak flooring on the other hand follow the same method but it cuts the tree into much thinner layers. Majority of the boards are created using softwoods. Because it uses thinner layers, this method is efficient in creating more floor boards from the same wood then the traditional oak floorings.
Oak has a normal propensity to alter its form along with the change in humidity. It expands when it is moistened and contracts when dried. Engineered floor board is a bonding of hardwood veneer layer to a softwood layer supporting board thus, making this bonding idyllic for using in any conditions. This will also make it strong, firm and impressive.
Generally, oak floor is chosen according to its exterior looks. If you want your flooring to have that classic oak flooring appearance then you should not to fill up the marks and cracks in the wood. Unfortunately, majority of the engineered oak flooring available in the market are spoiled by the artificial fillings which no doubt, fills up the floor, while it also yields to its unappealing and artificial appearance.
There are some basic essentials to think about, while deciding on engineered flooring-
1. The supporting softwood layer should be of superior quality with smooth surface;
2. Oak flooring will need frequent re polishing for this reason the veneer layer should be adequately thick.
3. Picking an oak floor is definitely a choice and purchasing it with the least price available is absolutely not the finest way to start.
Engineered oak flooring is a better choice when it comes to flooring. It has revolutionized the concept of flooring. It provides a better utility and advantages in comparison to other forms of flooring.
